Comparison: height Audi Q5 vs. competitors 2025

Over its four generations, the Q5 hasn't seen drastic changes in the height department. It all began with the Q5 8R (2008-2012), measuring in at an already respectable 1653 mm, which continued with the Q5 8R (Facelift) from 2012 to 2017. The subsequent Q5 FY (2017-2020) increased its stature ever so slightly to 1659 mm, but the current generation Q5, FY (Facelift), pulls out all the stops, reaching the lofty peak of 1662 mm. A veritable skyscraper on wheels!

Of course, it wouldn't be fair to compare the Q5 to its Audi kin without mentioning the other vehicles within the brand's lineup. The Q5 bears a rather striking similarity to the Q5 Sportback, with both coming in at 1660 mm. In fact, the Q5 even surpasses the smaller Q3 and Q3 Sportback, which measure 1585 mm and 1567 mm, respectively. On the flip side, the Q8 and RS Q8 stand taller, boasting heights of 1705 mm and 1694 mm, respectively. The Q5 happily nestles itself in the middle of these giants, neither cowering nor dominating the family tree.

But how does the Q5 fare when it comes to its close rivals? The Land Rover Discovery Sport and Hyundai Grand Santa Fe stand taller at 1727 mm and 1695 mm, respectively, while others like the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Skoda Kodiaq bring some competition at 1693 mm and 1688 mm. Even the BMW X4 attempts to level with the Q5, albeit at a diminutive 1621 mm. It's clear that the Q5 is not easily surpassed in height, looking down upon rivals such as the Jaguar F-Pace and Volvo XC60, perched at 1651 mm and 1658 mm, respectively. And while the Mercedes-Benz GLC comes in a bit short at 1602 mm, it still gives the Q5 a friendly nod from its slightly smaller throne.
