The boot space compared to other VW models
In the grand scheme of Volkswagen's automotive chessboard, the Passat B9's boot is the queen, with all the cunning moves and spaces. The nimble VW up! and its incarnations barely scrape together a quarter of the space, at a paltry 250 or so liters. The devout Golf family, including the GTI, R, and GTE, muster up a weak resistance with just over 370 liters, the T-Roc packs a decent 445 liters, but the Passat just watches them all with a nonchalant smirk. Even the lofty Tiguan bows with 615 liters, and the Arteon, with its 563 liters, can only watch in envy as the Passat B9 strides past. Only the cavernous interiors of the Touareg and the Tiguan Allspace dare to compete, with 810 and 760 liters respectively – although in comparison to the Passat they're more like sumo wrestlers to its ballroom dancer.

How does the boot space of the VW Passat compare to it's nearest competitors?
What about outside the VW empire, you ask? Well, the Citroen Berlingo tries valiantly with a boot space of 624 liters - commendable, but still trailing in the Passat's dust. The Lynk & Co 01 proudly flourishes its 466 liters, which in this context, feels like bringing a pocket knife to a cannon fight. Mazda's 2 squeaks in at 267 liters – enough for a potted plant and a week's groceries, perhaps. Even the Hyundai H 100's massive van-like expanse can't directly compete, as it's like comparing a warehouse to a premium storage unit. So, it's clear, in terms of boot capacity, the Passat B9 is a capacious king, reigning supreme with a boot you could probably rent out as a studio flat in some cities.
